Some time has passed since the release of the first update but I just got a job so (insert excuses here). The main changes: bots and hit prediction. The bots are ok for the target practice fodder they are. Unfortunately they're bugged so they don't ready up and consequently they're barely used. Disappointing for people that are as sick of spamming "EVEN TEAMS!" as I am. That said, they make pretty good vehicle gunners without being ungodly powerful. They also make better use of the radio than most humans. The new hit prediction code has improved everyone's ability to shoot so much its almost an entirely different game. Its actually worth aiming now although the rate of spread still encourages weapon spamming (2nd and 3rd shot accuracy is almost as bad as full auto accuracy).
Punkbuster is enabled and had nearly no impact other than preventing a few people from playing. It’s a valuable tool when there are actually admin policing the servers but kind of useless at the moment. Cheating has actually grown worse.
The next Beta update will bring a new map which should liven things up. The lucky beta key holders will be able to play on but I don't know if they'll be releasing any more keys. Splash Damage do have to make some sales after all... |
